Spaces and Movements of Creatives in Zurich 1989-2014

Our study "Spaces and Movements of Creatives in Zurich 1989-2014" has been published. With this study, we wanted to show the places of work / work districts which are cultural spaces since 1989 and which are important for the time of the great awakening of the art and creative scene in the former factories and the various districts. The number of removals of the 445 respondents is enormous. One person or company has moved 13 times in 23 years. A third of all removals have their reason in the demolition or the conversion of buildings! In the last ten years, relocations of
creative people from factory premises to office and commercial buildings have took place. In the commercial property market, there are still high vacancy rates. These are not affordable or will not become accessible for creative, and especially young people; often the most innovative and creative people. A rethinking among the actors of the real estate market in terms of pricing and profit expectations, and the increased allowance for interim uses could provide new scope for open the creative Zurich.

Gemeinschaftszentren. These have now been published in the form of a guideline.

Motivation and requirements for volunteer work in neighbourhood development.
Example: City of Zurich, district 5.

Research report 2006.

This research work is intended to create in-depth knowledge about motivations for voluntary neighbourhood work and involvement in participatory processes in neighbourhoods. The research interest aims in two directions: a) research into personal motivations and b) research into the framework conditions and requirements for neighbourhood work or development. Or, to put it up as if by a thesis: The success in mobilizing volunteers for involvement in the neighbourhood depends on the one hand on their motivation and the underlying needs or their satisfaction. On the other hand, the requirements for mobilization work must meet these needs.

Zurich as a workplace. Structure, background and perspectives of the industrial sector in the city of Zurich.

The industry has lost much of its importance throughout Switzerland in recent years. This development has been particularly pronounced in the cities. In the city of Zurich, the current number of industrial jobs is correspondingly much lower than at the beginning of the 1970s. In general, this raises the question of the extent to which the future development of the labour market in the city of Zurich can be steered in a more favourable direction.
